So this weekend I caught up on some to dos I’ve been meaning to do. My agent had suggested I check out this character (and the actress who portrays her) from the Clone Wars and HOLY SHIT, I am in love. The character is evil villainess Asajj Ventress (great name…and did I mention I freakin love her look!!!!) What an awesome character, I loved everything about her…and the actress who played her, Nika Futterman, was absolutely delicious…pure unapologetic, unrestrained e-VIL. Powerful dark and twisted, my kinda gal!
Since I’ve been getting lots of video games and animation auditions, I am excited to start being more active in my development for these things. When I was first starting out in vo a few years back, it was conventional wisdom to start out in commercials. This was the suggestion for regular (on-camera) acting as well, although I never took that advice. So this time around I decided to be more like the Karate Kid and “wax on, wax off“, no questions asked…So for the past two years I’ve been focused solely on commercials. It has required restraint to keep focused. As an actor, my world is lit up by the prospect of doing characters again! To that end, I’m taking a 6 week video game class starting at the end of this month with Zach Hanks (Soundawg.net) and after that, I’ll be looking for an animation class (suggestions welcome!).
In the meantime, I am so grateful to have been hipped to Ms. Ventress, an inspiration for sure! After all, I have always been an avid believer that evil characters simply have more fun!
