This audiobook shines light on the dark corners of the Internet and demonstrates how the human mind adjusts, rebels, and often malfunctions when wandering through the cyber landscape. Why do our inhibitions vanish? Why do we so easily abandon our sense of privacy? And why does time seem suspended? Aiken likens accessing the Internet to visiting a foreign land, and if that’s the case, narrator Rachel Fulginiti serves as an ideal travel guide, her reassuring, conversational voice leading listeners through the endless cyber locales.Things become especially scary when Aiken looks into the effects of the Internet on children and when she peers into the Deep Web–the 99% of the Internet that is not available to Internet search engines and is composed of inaccessible databases and illegal activity.AudioFile``The Cyber Effect`` by Mary Aiken (Penguin Random House)
This richly detailed account of a young policewoman’s life on the streets is given a narration by Fulginiti that is the perfect complement to Burgess’s authentic dialogue and realistic portraits of cops at work and play. She catches Janice’s shifting attitudes, as the hapless character stumbles from near disasters to moments of self-satisfaction and elation, and she creates a multitude of voices for the book’s large cast of characters—slow-talking dopers, suspicious dealers, macho “uncles,” demanding and unfeeling big bosses. Fulginiti uses a range of accents, and she does so with enough subtlety to avoid complaints of stereotyping.Publisher's Weekly``Uncle Janice`` by Matt Burgess (HighBridge)
Part philosophy treatise and part pet owner manual, Vicki Hearne’s Adam’s Task: Calling Animals by Name is groundbreaking. In it, she presents an unconventional but surprisingly effective animal training system. Hearne, herself, was both a professor of philosophy at Yale University as well as a dog and horse trainer. Rachel Fulginiti’s graceful performance does this audiobook justice. Her voice is warm, sweet, and clear as a bell. Her pacing is thoughtful. She provides vocal variation in quite a natural way. This audiobook is a must listen for all animal lovers.Audible Editor's Review``Adam's Task`` by Vicki Hearne (Audible)
I do want to give credit to Rachel Fulginiti, who did a masterful job with the audio version of Bennington Girls Are Easy. If it weren’t for her entertaining, breathy delivery, I would have given up on the book a long time ago. She made it much funnier and kept me going.Everyday I Write the Book``Bennington Girls are Easy`` by Charlotte Silver (Penguin Random House)
Rachel Fulginiti did a magnificent job with the voices of different sexes, ages and accents. I applaud her. The narration is excellent! Rachel Fulginiti is an accomplished actress and breathes life into every single character. Her narration was a pleasure to listen to. This is an audio book I would recommend to anyone who loves a good story and great narration.Library ThingUncle Janice by Matt Burgess (HighBridge)
In a clear voice and confident tone, Rachel Fulginiti narrates the memoir of Amber Smith, a former Army helicopter pilot. Smith recounts her transition from raw recruit in boot camp to her tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan. In between come accounts of officer candidate school and flight training. As a soldier, she learned to “embrace the suck” and “earned her spurs” as a member of the 2nd Squadron of the 17th Cavalry Regiment. Fulginiti’s earnest delivery moves easily through the text. Her alto voice is clear and somewhat understated, but still subtly expressive. Her narration works well with the author’s often wry sense of humor. While maintaining a professional style, her performance has an informal, approachable quality that is very engaging.AudioFile``Danger Close`` by Amber Smith (Dreamscape)
Narrator Rachel Fulginiti expertly navigates listeners through this well-crafted story. Seven years after fleeing Catswallow, Alabama, in the dead of night, Isabel Lang reaches out to her first love, Aidan Royce, now a mega-hot rock star. But there are people who seek to keep them apart and to prevent them from finding answers to a long unsolved crime. Fulginiti provides a warm and friendly voice, subtle inflections, and a natural acting style Her vocal choices for the various characters are spot-on, and her perfectly timed hesitations keep the story engaging.AudioFile``Perfect Timing`` by Laura Spinella (Brilliance)
Distinguished financial reporter Rana Foroohar offers penetrating arguments and plenty of evidence that American banks and businesses are threatening our economy by prioritizing investment over actual work. The author reads the forward and introduction with such relaxed confidence and skill that when voice-pro Rachel Fulginiti begins narrating, the transition is seamless. Both narrate with a compelling mix of vocal appeal and determination.
The titular miracle in this imaginative novel by Christine Lehner refers to one character’s efforts to get a Nicaraguan woman sainted, but hagiography is only one of the places where the miraculous comes into play. Alice, who’s lost her job as a radio-show dream analyst, is at home with a sick dog while her family goes on a spelunking vacation when her husband’s college roommate, who’s on the aforementioned canonical quest, comes to visit. Rachel Fulginiti performs the audiobook delightfully, embodying its protagonist and fashioning a variety of voices New England, Nicaraguan, feminine, and masculine. Sainthood is hard to achieve but so are marriage and dog care. You’ll find the title taking on new meanings as Alice searches for a miracle.Audible Editor's Review``Absent a Miracle`` by Christine Lehner (Audible)
