Every once in awhile you get to narrate a book that is so up your alley that you can’t believe you’re actually being paid to read it. Such was the case this summer when I got to voice this important book by Heather Anne Wise.
A Gut Feeling, just released on audio by Vibrance Press, is all about your gut microbiome. If you have no idea what that means, you might (definitely!) want to find out! Up until now it really hasn’t been widely discussed. Even I (a self-admitted health foodie), only had a vague notion of what it was – and honestly, I didn’t think I really cared….But now I do! It feels like the missing piece, and I think it’s about to have it’s moment. At least I hope it does because it’s really important information that can benefit everyone’s overall health and wellness.
Heather is certified holistic health coach and wellness consultant who recounts her personal battle with her sweet tooth, which she learned to heal over time by growing her own “internal garden”. Her basic premise is that wellness starts in the gut; by feeding your healthy flora and starving the toxic flora that cause sugar cravings, mood swings and a whole host of other dis-ease, you can achieve and maintain vibrant health. She explains things in a very accessible, easy to understand way.
I began employing some of Heather’s suggestions immediately and it’s definitely had a positive impact on my life. Honestly, some of the simple changes she encourages have helped me to feel better in a very short amount of time. My skin is clearer, my sugar cravings are way down and my digestion has been easy breezy.
The book includes a one month detox plan complete with recipes, mindfulness exercises (she discusses the mind-body connection), and a plethora of specific suggestions about which probiotics, herbs and supplements she recommends to support your journey.
You can find A Gut Feeling: Conquer your Sweet Tooth By Tuning Into Your Microbiome at Vibrance Press or here on Audible. Big thanks to producer Michele Cobb for entrusting me with this one – it’s a game changer!
