I am just so amazed at what everyone is up to these days. Everywhere I look, friends are accomplishing things, living their dreams, going for it. It is exciting. I have a friend who just played Madison Square Garden. A week later she was in the studio playing on the new Paul McCartney record (and chatting with him afterwards!) I have friends who are working non-stop as audiobook narrators, friends with great reviews of their work, a friend who just launched a beautiful website, a friend who just went to Washington DC to demonstrate for Veterans Rights. I have friends becoming parents, friends becoming homeowners, friends producing movies, friends starting a non-profit theatre company and raising $20,000 as seed money. Wow.
It is exciting what’s going on. Because as broken as the economy is, and this country seems to be – the people I know are thriving. Stepping into their own. Becoming who they’ve always wanted to be. Doing better than ever. Maybe it’s because most of my friends are artists. Artists have always lived without a net. We’ve had to live with the gnawing fear of the unknown for decades now. Felt the fear and acted anyway. We’ve worked hard with no guarantees. We’ve faced hunger. We’ve faced ruin. We’ve never stopped seeking. This new paradigm shift the whole world is facing… in many ways, we’ve been preparing for this our whole lives.
I am blessed to have a supportive community of creative, talented and beautiful friends. They are an inspiration to me everyday.

So true Rachel! It’s easier to get by in this tough economy when you’re used to living on meager means.
Well said old friend.
Nice one Rach
